How can we make the children feel included and special ?
Often a marriage creates new family dynamics and especially where children are involved it can be helpful if this is acknowledged in the ceremony after the couple have been pronounced married.
This helps to 'bring on board' the new relationships formalized by the marriage and the couple can take that opportunity to say how much they value the step-children and look forward to all they will share in coming years.
Taking the time and effort to do this is affirming for the young people and helps to allay any misgivings they might have about their place in the new relationship.
